When it comes to dresses and skirts, I've always preferred wearing something that skims the body, such as pencil or bodycon. As much as I've seen and admired
women for wearing other types of dresses/skirts, (i.e. A-line, skater, etc.), I could never convince myself to purchase let alone try one on, out of fear of accentuating my skinny chicken legs. It's one thing to have skinny legs with a lean body, but when you have skinny legs with wide hips and a big butt, it throws off the proportions and makes your legs look like toothpicks compared to everything else.
After oohing and ahhing at other fashion blogs showing off this trend for the longest time, I decided to try out
when they had a sale a couple of weeks ago. I was immediately drawn to it because (1) it's made specifically for petites, (2) I thought the swallow print was just adorable, and (3) ASOS has free shipping
free returns! I figured I had nothing to lose.
I LOVED IT. I forgot how comfortable and liberating it feels to wear something that's not so fitted! I think I might have gotten a
too excited when I tried on the skirt though, because it wasn't long after I started twirling around (
on the Real Housewives of Atlanta) when Ruben interrupted me and asked me to
not do that in public because he could see my panties. Pssssh, he just doesn't know what 'Gone with the Wind fabulous' is! Don't worry though, I wouldn't do that in public. :)
What are your thoughts on fitted/pencil vs. a-line/skater skirts?
